About Ross Hanbury

 

Ross has always had a strong passion for sport and fitness both off and on the field. Before starting out as a strength and conditioning/fitness consultant, Ross represented Harlequins RFC and the British Army at Rugby Union. In addition to playing rugby he also studied for a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science at Roehampton University.

After finishing his degree, Ross then studied for his personal training diploma with Premier Global. Soon after this he then entered into the fitness industry working for Holmes Place (now Virgin Active). After 2 years he was then promoted to head trainer, looking after the development of over 100 personal trainers in the London region.

In 2007 he was nominated to undertake an MSc in Sport & Exercise Physiology at Roehampton University. As part of the Masters programme he completed a dissertation, in conjunction with SKINS. At the same time as completing his Masters Ross worked for Charlton Athletic FC. During this time he developed the practical skills to work within professional sport, strength and conditioning and sport science. 

After finishing his Masters, Ross then took up a position within the Strength and Conditioning department at Harlequins RFC. As part of this role he established and developed a world class sport science programme; supporting both players and members of the coaching department. Following on from his success at Harlequins Ross then worked as a consultant for the Rugby Football Union working with: England Saxons, England Women, England women 7s and England Womens U20s. 

As well as his extensive involvement in Elite sport, Ross also lectures part time on the graduate and post graduate Sport and Exercise programmes at Roehampton University. 

Over the last 10 years, Ross has developed an extensive amount of knowledge and experience from both his experiences in professional sport and working with the members of the general public.
